New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand (Level 3)

The aim of this program is to develop professional, ethical and highly capable Healthcare Assistants who have a strong foundation of knowledge and practice. Students will become responsive to the changing needs of their clients, and be able to provide outstanding person-centred care under the leadership of a health professional.

Dementia Care Specialisation

A dementia care specialisation is available within this program.

Students will learn about the stages, symptoms and behaviours of clients living with dementia and how to respond to changes. Communication skills will be developed for dementia clients and their families/whānau.

Field experience

This qualification features a strong practical component to ensure students put their learning into practice.
