About University of Manitoba

The first university in western Canada is the University of Manitoba. We are the only research-intensive university in the area, offering more than 100 degrees, diplomas, and certifications, including more than 60 at the undergraduate level in professional fields like medicine, law, and engineering. Our 140-year-old institution is located in the centre of the nation.

We have close to 30,000 students, 8,700 teachers and staff, and 190,000 alumni that make up our vibrant university community. Almost 104 different nations are represented by the nearly 13% of our current students who are from abroad.

Infectious illnesses, Canadian history, materials science, civil infrastructure, population and community health, sustainable agriculture, and northern research are just a few of the varied topics in which our distinguished teachers and students undertake study. Our researchers are working together more than ever before beyond traditional academic boundaries, sharing their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for discovery.

Government funding is provided to the coeducational, nonreligious University of Manitoba. It belongs to both the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
