About University of Liverpool

University of Liverpool  is a public university based in Liverpool, England. The University was established as a college in 1881, and is the first 'red brick' university, one of six universities established in England's major industrial cities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and also a member of the prestigious Russell Group.

This became an autonomous university and in 1903, and adopted the name Liverpool University.

The University of Liverpool is considered one of the best institutions of higher education in the world and is home to a total of 22,000 students including 7,000 foreign students from 127 countries, as well as 219,000 alumni and 6,000 employees.

The Liverpool campus is spread over 100 acres of land and consists of 192 buildings which provide qualitative education facilities of world class.

In 2006, the university was the first in the United Kingdom to create an autonomous university in China, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, making it the first Sino-British university in the world.

In 2019 the university announced a new partnership to deliver their online degrees with Kaplan Open Learning.

Liverpool is also the only UK university of Biosciences, Clinical Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Tropical Medicine with full clinical education cover.

The University has two campuses, one in Liverpool City and a pioneering partnership with Xi'an Jiaotong University in Suzhou, China.

The university is primarily based on a single urban campus at the top of Brownlow Hill and Mount Pleasant, about five minutes walk from Liverpool City Centre.
