The University of St. Andrews is one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world, having been founded between 1410 and 1413. Additionally, it was Scotland's first university and provides top-notch education. The issuance of a papal bull served as the official constitution of this university. The Universities Act of 1858 governs St. Andrews, which is a public institution.

The university's buildings, libraries, and student housing are dispersed around St. Andrews, a town in Fife, Scotland. Professors and students can stay on campus in a variety of accommodations that are provided by the university. On its campus, the university boasts a sizable library that houses an impressive collection of books, artefacts, images, and manuscripts. More than a million books, including about 200,000 rare and unique titles, are housed in the library. Three colleges make up the University of St. Andrews: United College, St. Leonard's Postgraduate College, and St. Mary's College. The university's academic organisation is made up of several Academic Schools and Departments that are divided into four faculties. Numerous degree programmes in ancient history, medicine, art, applied sciences, management, mathematics, philosophy, languages, music, and creative writing are available at St. Andrews. The university takes part in the Erasmus Program, which enables direct interactions with academic institutions in Europe.

The institution has recently established exchange programmes with several universities in Australia and Asia. The University of St. Andrews has more than 9,000 students enrolled in its undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes. Notable scientists, mathematicians, philosophers, theologians, and politicians are all employed by the university. The institution received applications from 183 different countries for entry in 2019.
