About University of Surrey

The prestigious University of Surrey is situated in the English town of Guildford. The Battersea Polytechnic Institute was founded in 1891, and this public research university was created in 1966 after being granted a royal charter. This institution began concentrating on science and technology in 1920, and in 1956 it was given the name "College of Advanced Technology." It was renamed Battersea College of Technology the next year. The college was decided to relocate to Guildford in 1962. The Robbins Report made the suggestion that Battersea College should grow and become a legitimate university in 1963.

The institution celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2016, the same year that The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 awarded it the University of the Year. There are two campuses for the university—one in Stag Hill and one in Manor Park. The Manor Park campus was created with the space limitations at their primary Stag Hill site in mind. The School of Veterinary Medicine, Surrey Sports Park, and student housing are all located on the Manor Park campus. In addition, the university's Surrey Research Park, which opened in 1985, is home to over 100 businesses and almost 2500 workers. Three faculties make up the University of Surrey, which is divided into 22 schools and departments. The three faculties are the faculties of engineering and physical sciences, the faculties of health and medical sciences, and the faculties of arts and social sciences. In order to assist the faculties, the university has also established two related departments (the department of higher education and the department of technology-enhanced learning). The institution founded Surrey International Institute-DUFE (SII-DUFE) in China in 2006 in partnership with the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.

In order to serve a wider range of students, the institution provides undergraduate and graduate programmes in a variety of subject areas. Additionally, it provides research courses in a variety of subjects, including as physics, chemistry, creative writing, clinical psychology, computer science, economics, and English literature. The institution offers scholarships and bursaries specifically for its international students. The institution offers short courses and continuous professional development that students can enrol in on their own. The University of Surrey provides career opportunities in a variety of fields, such as technical and experimental work, teaching, professional and operational services, and research.
