About University of Sussex

Sussex University, (US) is based in Falmer, in England's East Sussex. In 1961 the University of Sussex has  earned its Royal Charter and emerged as a multidisciplinary research center highly regarded for its academic excellence. Currently about 18,000 students from over 120 countries are enrolled.

The campus is surrounded by the National Park of South Downs, and is a short distance from the center of Brighton. It is the only university in the UK that is situated in a National Park.

It has five Nobel Prize winners, 15 Royal Society Fellows and numerous awards to its faculty. The US is renowned for its diverse campus of teachers from 50 countries and students from 120 nations.

96% of the students at Sussex were working or continued in a six-month period, while the Guardian University Guide ranked the third university in the UK for great prospects.

Location Specialities 

The Sussex University is the only United Kingdom University surrounded by a national park and yet just a stone's throw from Brighton & Hove, the beach town. The campus is also close to Lewes and about an hour away from London.

Brighton is one of the most popular seaside towns in the United Kingdom, known as 'London by the Sea,' for its vibrant nightlife and social scene.

The University of Sussex offers all foreign students university-owned accommodation during their first year of study. Currently there are 5,500 rooms available, most of them on the campus.

Ranking

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 placed Sussex 146th in the world overall and 40th in the world for Social Sciences.

  • Offered at Sussex are 25 scholarships awarding a 50% tuition fee reduction to international graduate applicants.

English Language Requirements:

University have three main levels of English, depending on the course applied for: higherstandard and lower. For some of the qualifications listed below, our entry requirement is set at the same level for all courses.

IELTS:

  • Higher - 7.0 overall, including at least 6.5 in each component
  • Standard – 6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component 
  • Lower - 6.0 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component

TOEFL:

  • Higher - 95 overall, including at least 22 in Listening, 23 in Reading, 23 in Speaking, 24 in Writing
  • Standard – 88 overall, including at least 20 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, 23 in Writing
