About Claremont Graduate University

The well-known private research university Claremont Graduate University was established in 1925 and is located in Claremont, California. The university, often known as CGU, is a self-governing organisation that only provides graduate study programmes. For 37 years it was known as University College, but in 1962 it changed its name to Claremont Graduate School and University Center. The school's name was changed to Claremont University Center in 1967. It was finally given the name Claremont Graduate University in 1998. Over 175 buildings make up the university campus, which is situated on a plot of land that is about 550 acres large. More than 2,000 students attend the university, with international students from more than 50 different countries making up 22% of the student body.

The university uses a number of facilities and is a part of Claremont Colleges. Pomona College, Scripps College, Harvey Mudd College, Claremont McKenna College, and Pitzer College are some of the member undergraduate institutions. The university is split into seven different schools and offers a lively atmosphere. These institutions also include the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, the Center for Information Systems & Technology, Policy, & Evaluation, the School of Arts & Humanities, the School of Social Science, the Drucker School of Management, the School of Community & Global Health, and the School of Educational Studies. In addition to these, the university is home to the Paul Gray PC Museum, a museum dedicated to computers. For the benefit of its students, Claremont Graduate University provides a variety of on-campus amenities and academic support services. 24 graduate student clubs and organisations are still active there. In the colleges, 550 faculty members assist in guiding the students. In addition, pupils have access to four libraries with more than 2 million books.

Additionally, the university maintains a global alumni network with more than 23,000 members. A helpful career development staff is also present. It has influenced the personalities of some well-known persons, including powerful politicians, business moguls, writers, poets, and entertainers. Douglass Adair, an American historian and historiographer, Stephen Cambone, the first Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence of the United States, Tom Cotton, a United States senator and congressman from Arkansas, Rajiv Dutta, the president of Skype and PayPal, Abdulla Yameen, the president of the Maldives, Richard Armour, a poet and author of more than 65 books, and Suzanne Muchnic are just a few of the alumni who are well-known (art critic, journalist, writer).
