About Diablo Valley College

In 1949, Diablo Valley College was established. It was formerly referred to as the East Contra Costa Junior College. It consists of two campuses in Contra Costa County, California, located in Pleasant Hill and San Roman. Architecture, the arts, biology, astronomy, chemistry, culinary arts, engineering, and many other subjects are available for degrees and certificates. In addition, it offers career specialisations such as dental technology and hotel management. In addition, it offers numerous extracurricular activities.

Students actively participate on the debate team. Each term, the two campuses house over 28,000 students. The Pleasant Hill campus is located off Interstate 680; it consists of 100 acres of rolling hills with a breathtaking view of Mount Diablo. The San Roman campus was founded in November of 2006.

According to research conducted by the UCLA Center for the Study of Community Colleges, the DCV has a transfer rate to four-year institutions that is 67% higher than the national average. It also has a financial aid office that offers a variety of financial aid programmes, including fee waivers, work-study, and grants. There are currently 20,000 enrolled students, of which 50% are female. It is diverse due to the presence of students of different ethnicities.

DVC has been recognised as one of the best California community colleges. It holds accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, the United States Department of Education, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Its faculty consists of highly educated and trained professors who are committed to providing students with the best education possible. Alumni include George Miller, Ron Turner, Eva Marie, and Julie Strain, among others.
