About Nova Southeastern University

NSU was founded in 1964 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as a small college with revolutionary ideas under the name Nova University of Advanced Technology and as a graduate institution in the physical and social sciences. Nova University and Southeastern University of Health Sciences merged in 1994 to create Nova Southeastern University. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Nova Southeastern University is a private institution whose main campus is located in Davie, Florida. The university consists of 18 colleges and schools offering over 150 academic programmes. Sociology, law, business, osteopathic medicine, allopathic medication, pharmacy, optometry, physical therapy, education, occupational therapy, and nursing are among the professional degrees offered by the university. The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) restructured its relationship with the College of Undergraduate Studies (COUS) in July 2014. Together, the division and the school play a crucial role in the One NSU vision, providing NSU students with co-curricular learning opportunities and services that promote student development and advancement.

Shark Pride is a campus-wide event named after Nova Southeastern University's mascot, Razor the Shark, that promotes a sense of school pride and participation among students, faculty, and staff. It is about fostering a sense of identity, demonstrating support for the university, encouraging student participation, and recognising accomplishments. NSU, designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with "high research activity," is making new discoveries that will advance science and possibly improve the lives of individuals.

In order to make discoveries and produce new knowledge in healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, environment, and social sciences, NSU researchers are engaged in energising interdisciplinary research activities. More than $107 million in external funding is being utilised by the NSU workforce to advance the college's mission of research, academic excellence, and public service. They are engaged in a variety of basic, applied, and clinical research endeavours to improve patient care, discover new drugs, reduce mental health disorders, and investigate the forces affecting our oceans.

Regarding arts support, Nova Southeastern University becomes the dominant centre of attention. Whether it is simply to sit and appreciate the cultural arts or to participate in the show, NSU offers a variety of opportunities to nurture the innovative spirit. From the rapidly developing performing and visual arts educational programme to the on-campus theatres, art gallery, and art museum in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Nova Southeastern University provides countless scholarship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and first-year professional students each year in recognition of their academic achievement and leadership potential. NSU offers significant university and college scholarships every academic year, including grants for first-year and continuing students, as a result of generous contributions from the graduating class, companies, donors, and friends.

Some prominent alumni are: Kristen Melissa Ledlow is an American sports correspondent. Devaris 'Dee' Gordon is an American professional baseball player. Melony Mincey Bell is an American legislator who is currently a member of the Florida House of Representatives.
