Oklahoma State University, also known as OSU, is a public, land-grant research institution located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. OSU was founded in 1890. Institutionally, it is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Stillwater is the location of Oklahoma State University's main campus, which is approximately 60 miles from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The university has more than 35,000 students across its five campuses and more than 24,000 on its Stillwater and Tulsa campuses combined, with students hailing from all 50 states and approximately 120 countries.
Oklahoma State University-Stillwater offers approximately 200 undergraduate majors, 79 master's programmes, and 45 doctoral programmes through six colleges, a veterinary school, and an osteopathic medical school, in addition to a veterinary school and an osteopathic medical school. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 20:1, the institution helps students prepare for the future by providing the necessary academic assistance. Through the Honors College, OSU provides additional opportunities to select students for study, direct research, and intellectual exchange in a more challenging and supportive academic environment. All schools' advanced education programmes are governed by the Graduate College.
Veterinary Pathobiology, Physiological Sciences, and Veterinary Clinical Sciences are the three academic departments of the College of Veterinary Medicine, or CVM. Each of the three academic divisions is responsible for the professional four-year curriculum leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. OSU Online provides busy students with flexible and advantageous online school credit courses. They can pursue or complete a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or a professional certificate. OSU Online brings OSU's legacy to students online, whenever and wherever they are.
Living on campus is perhaps the best way to make friends and integrate into the community. The student housing is centrally located on campus. They may choose their own roommate(s) or request assistance from the institute in finding a roommate based on shared interests, habits, and schedule preferences. More than 500 student organisations, 32 residence halls, 13 living-learning communities, and 34 fraternities and sororities exist at the university.
The university also provides various forms of gift aid that do not require repayment, such as scholarships and grants. Federal and state grants are also available.
Oil magnate and billionaire philanthropist T. Boone Pickens, actor James Marsden, "the father of the personal computer" Ed Roberts, country singers Garth Brooks and Hoyt Axton, and former South Korean prime minister Nam Duck-woo are notable alumni.
