The University of California Davis (UC Davis) was founded in 1908 as the University Farm School, a science and research-based branch of the University of California Berkeley. The institution first opened its doors in 1909 with only 18 students. In 1922, the Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture was renamed. In 1938, the name was changed once more to the College of Agriculture at Davis. In 1959, the college became a general campus and was given its current name. The academic structure of the institution currently consists of four colleges and seven schools. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges has granted the university accreditation (WASC).
The university's campuses, including the main academic campus, are located along Interstate 80 in Yolo County, next to the city of Davis. Sacramento, the state capital, is home to UC Davis Health. UC Davis also has holdings and facilities around California, as well as one in Nevada. Aside from first-rate instructional facilities such as classrooms, auditoriums, libraries, and labs, the university campus also has a variety of leisure and athletic amenities. There are racquetball and basketball courts, a climbing wall, an equestrian centre, an indoor track, a large swimming pool, a bowling alley, a billiards room, a TV lounge, and a crafts centre on the premises.
Engineering, agricultural, sciences, mathematics, anthropology, social sciences, media, design, computer science, arts, economics, languages, environment, architecture, pharmacy, philosophy, medicine, and psychology are among the 101 graduate and 102 undergraduate programmes offered at UC Davis. The institution has about 39,000 students and a faculty-to-student ratio of 20:1. UC Davis is a globally engaged university with a strong international student body that gives 1,300 students the chance to enrol in study abroad programmes each year. In over 30 nations, university lecturers lead over 50 programmes.
