Previously, the university was known as the Washington State School of Science. The Atomic Energy Commission has provided significant money for the university's and faculties' development. The university's campus has 620 acres of land. It is designed in a Neo-Georgian style and was planned and built by Paul Thiry, a well-known architect. The campus' infrastructure is well-maintained. All of the necessary amenities are supplied to the pupils. Thompson Hall, Steven Hall, and Bryan Hall are the three halls on campus. These are the oldest structures on campus, according to legend. The College of Arts & Sciences and the Foreign Language Department are both housed in Thompson Hall.

There are other residence halls on campus, including the Hill hall, which has four buildings, the Northside hall, which has five buildings, the Southcentral and Upper-division halls, which have six structures, and the Complex hall, which has three buildings. At the housing residences, the campus provides all required services and facilities.
