About Western Michigan University

Western Michigan University was founded in 1903 as a public research university. Originally, the university was known as the Western State Normal School, and it offered students two-year training programmes. It had been renamed several times before getting its current name. With 117 students registered in 1904, the university hosted its first session of classes. In addition, the institution conferred its first master's degree in 1953 and its first doctoral degree in 1968. In the year 2000, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching designated WMU as a research-based university.

Engineering, Visual and Performing Arts, Health Professions and Related Programs, Marketing and Related Support Services, Business, Management, and Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies are the most popular majors at Western Michigan University. WMU presently has around 250 degree programmes spread across seven colleges. Western Michigan University's popular colleges are the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the College of Education and Human Development, and the Haworth College of Business.

The university's campus is around 1,250 acres in size and is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is home to some of the best amenities in the Midwest. The East Campus, Parkview Campus, Main Campus, and College of Aviation are among the university's many campuses. Students can visit two different natural preserves for educational and research objectives. Additionally, various student-friendly services such as cafes, dining halls, and parking facilities are available on campus. Western Michigan University operates a number of regional instructional centres throughout Michigan. Western Michigan University International Student Admissions

All students at Western Michigan University must submit their applications online. To complete their application successfully, international applicants must meet the following requirements:

Application Portal: Students can apply online through WMU Gold Gateway, the university's application platform.

Application fee: 100 USD

Admission Requirements: International applicants must meet the following standards in order to be considered.

  • Copy of passport (identification page)
  • English language proficiency*
  • Transcripts (including secondary and post-secondary schools attended; with a diploma, certificates and examination result with mark sheets)
  • Evidence of adequate funds (first year)
  • Scores of exams to study in the USA (GRE, GMAT, ACT, etc.)

Applicants must ensure that official documents from the issuing institution or testing agency are sent directly to International Admissions and Services. Hard copies of papers and transcripts are also acceptable. They must be in the issuing institution's sealed envelope. Documents submitted by applicants without an issuing institution will be rejected.

Documents must also be written in English or translated into English before being submitted.
