About Diploma Of Liberal Studies in ANU College

The ANU Diploma Liberal of Studies is designed for students who are interested in studying a Bachelor of Arts at The Australian National University. The diploma will provide a strong foundation to progress into the 2nd year of a Bachelor of Arts.

Progression

Upon successful completion of the ANU Diploma of Liberal Studies with no more than one fail or incomplete grade with a GPA of at least 5.0, students will be eligible to enter the second year of the Bachelor of Arts.

If students do not achieve the required results they will need to begin at Year One and may apply for credit for courses undertaken in their Diploma.

All ANU diplomas are recognised Australian tertiary qualifications and are therefore nationally and internationally recognised and are valid to use to apply for entry to other institutions.

The Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts is the most diverse, most flexible, and most popular degree at ANU.

An Arts degree will provide students with core skills in critical analysis and in written and oral communication, while developing adaptability and ability to help shape change and prepare you for a multifaceted career or further study.

The transition from the Diploma to the Bachelor will allow students to complete their Bachelor of Arts after only two additional years of study for the following majors:

  • Anthropology
  • Criminology
  • Development Studies
  • English
  • History
  • International Relations
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Sociology

If the students preferred program is not a listed degree, or major within that degree, then there is no guarantee of entry although they are still eligible to apply competitively for entry and for credit for courses undertaken within the diploma.
