At Collarts, we are dedicated to creating and shaping the next generation of leading designers through our unique study of interior designdecorating and styling

Our courses are developed and delivered by industry leaders to provide students a variety of real-life industry experiences so that they are prepared and well-equipped for a career in interior design. 

Through our industry partnerships, we are able to grant students international exposure to world-renowned interior designers, behind the scene tours of interior publications and visits to exclusive industry showrooms. Students have opportunities to partake in a variety of real-world business experiences, gaining access to industry connections through internships and placements.

You will graduate with a well-rounded understanding of the interior design industry, both in Australia and internationally.

Students can study online or on-campus with access to all of Collarts' campus facilities. 

The Bachelor of Arts (Interior Design) will provide students with knowledge and understanding of contemporary interior design activities and operations. The course ensures students develop practical skills and experience required to gain employment in the field of interior design.

The degree can be completed in six trimesters (two years) of full-time study.

Students can study online, on campus or mixed with access to all of Collarts' campus facilities. 

Throughout the degree, you will:

  • Work on industry projects with interior designers and brand leaders;
  • Learn and apply practical skills in creative interior design, conceptualisation and trend forecasting;
  • Gain hands-on experience in design technologies, events and installations;
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of design culture, creative theory and history;
  • Gain knowledge and experience in interior design practices and entrepreneurship;
  • Develop an industry relevant portfolio of creative projects;
  • Start your career sooner with immersive courses that allow you to complete your Bachelor Degree in two years instead of the standard three;
  • Study in our warehouse-style campus in the heart of Melbourne’s arts district.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • High school transcripts that demonstrate successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent. These transcripts must be certified and translated (if originals are not in English).

 English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent (TOEFL or PTE equivalent can also be accepted). Applicants for the Diploma of Entertainment Journalism will require an IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.5) or equivalent. Collarts can also recommend English language colleges with a direct pathway if you need to study English before you start.

As well as a successful interview and/or audition, and/or submission of personal statement, you must be able to submit the following documents: 

  • Copy of high school transcripts that demonstrate successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent. These transcripts must be certified and translated (if originals are not in English). 
  • A copy of English test score results from the last 18 months, evidencing IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent (TOEFL or PTE equivalent can also be accepted).   • Certified copy of your passport.
