About Building Services Engineering Beng (hons) in Coventry University

As the number of current construction and engineering projects continues to grow worldwide, the demand for building services engineers currently outstrips supply.
Accredited by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), this course provides direct entry to the second year of an ‘honours degree’ programme, an internationally recognised undergraduate qualification. It is primarily designed for part-time students already working in the industry, who wish to build on an existing Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualification or equivalent and are seeking to become a professional qualified engineer.

With an emphasis on engineering practice and its role within the construction industry, our course reflects the interdisciplinary and global nature of the construction industry, providing you with an understanding of how professionals need to work together to ensure that modern buildings are constructed economically, efficiently and in a sustainable way.

Why Coventry University?

An award-winning university, we are committed to providing our students with the best possible experience. We continue to invest in both our facilities and our innovative approach to education. Our students benefit from industry-relevant teaching, and resources and support designed to help them succeed. These range from our modern library and computing facilities to dedicated careers advice and our impressive Students’ Union activities.

Course information

The course aims to equip you with the advanced skills and knowledge to take on a specialist role managing the design or construction of building services and energy conservation in buildings.

Career prospects

Pay and conditions in the construction engineering professions are excellent with a global shortage of experts in sustainable energy systems.

On successful completion of this programme, your skills should be in demand by national and international consultants and contractors and engaged in the design, construction and development of modern, energy-efficient and sustainable buildings.

You could go on to work for design consultancies, major building contractors, building services contractors, manufacturers of equipment, local authorities, government departments, hospitals, factories or power stations. You may be involved in the design, installation or maintenance of systems and will be able to make a significant difference to the environment by ensuring that modern buildings are designed, constructed and operated in energy-efficient, low-carbon and environmentally friendly ways.

Where our graduates work

The record of students gaining employment in the construction industry is excellent; over the last three years, all of our graduates have achieved employment before or on completing the course. Previous graduates have gone on to work electrical, mechanical and sustainability engineers within building services design and construction companies in the UK and internationally.

Our International Student Hub offers information on entry requirements for your country, as well as contact details for agents and representatives should you need more advice.
