Lambton College's Office Administration - General program is ideal for those looking to develop their organizational and technical skills, who also look forward to working with people. It is an excellent stepping stone to a great career in office administration, offering students the required administrative support knowledge to be successful. 

In this one-year Ontario College Certificate program, students develop the necessary technical, organizational and interpersonal skills that will enhance the very important entry-level role in any office.

With a wide variety of hands-on practical experience and creative thinking skills, graduates of the Office Administration - General program are fully trained to meet the demands of today's challenging work environment. These essential employability skills provides students with office procedure skills transferable to most occupations.

The first year is also a common year with the two-year diploma programs so students who wish to further their acquired skills and obtain specialization before taking employment can enter the second year of the Office Administration - Executive or Office Administration - Health Services programs. Students who choose to further their education by registering for second year in either specialty are strongly encouraged to register for CPL-1003: Internship in Term 4 to gain work experience in an office.

Office Administration students have opportunities throughout Lambton College to gain experience and grow their portfolio through various activities.

In a 2018 Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey, 100% of the students indicated working hard to meet the demands of their courses. Likewise, 96% of the students were satisfied or very satisfied that this program provided them with the knowledge and skills, including computer skills development that were useful for their future career. 94% of Office Administration - General students said their main goal for enroling was to prepare for employment/career. 

Employment Opportunities

Many of our graduates use the Office Administration - General certificate program as a foundation for their careers in a business setting. They are able to demonstrate the basic skills needed to perform routine tasks to effectively and efficiently contribute in a variety of office settings. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions such as office assistants, front desk coordinators, or customer service representatives in business, industry and government.

Admission Requirements

  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:
  • Six level 4 courses from the U or M stream and an overall average of 70% minimum including:
  • Grade 12 English U (minimum grade of 65% required).
  • Grade 12 Mathematics (C, U, or M level)
  • Grade 12 Biology U SBI4U (minimum combined average of 70% for chemistry and biology).
  • Grade 12 Chemistry U SCH4U (minimum combined average of 70% for chemistry and biology).

English language requirements

  • Proof of English Proficiency Test Scores.

  • TOEFL iBT: 69
