About Creative Media Entrepreneurship MA in University of West London

Are you a media graduate who wants to start your own business? Whether you are interested in starting a creative agency, developing a product or service, or starting an online business, our MA Creative Media Entrepreneurship course is designed to help you achieve your exciting professional ambitions.

On the course you will gain an in-depth theoretical understanding of contemporary creative media. You will also develop practical skills and experience to support and motivate you – nurturing your ideas and business plans. Upon completion of this course you can look forward to being an independent production professional working across a wide range of media formats.

The course will help you progress from theory through to implementation, creating a bridge between your ideas and ambitions and actual contemporary business practices within competitive markets. Among other challenges, you may explore intellectual property (IP) development, commissioning and delivery.

It is important that you are able to adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape and the contemporary culture of project-specific contracts. These contracts favour freelancers, self-employed contractors and independent producers. To prepare you for this business environment, you will work on group projects, pitching and feedback sessions with industry specialists. Through these experiences, you will gain real-world experience of working on creative projects for clients and develop skills in business agility.

You will be taught by a team of experts who share a passion for creativity in media and have significant professional experience within their specialist fields. Alongside lectures, workshops and one-to-one tutorials, our regular talks from high-profile industry speakers provide industry insights and inspiration. Past speakers include award-winning filmmakers, distributors, broadcasters and other leading media decision-makers.

On completing the course you should have a project portfolio that is ready for commissioning or financing. In addition, you will have gained a comprehensive and critical understanding of media production within competitive markets, plus the ability to critically analyse and evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses as an independent practitioner.

You need to meet our English language requirement - a minimum of IELTS 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
