Course information

This course is designed to enhance your existing knowledge, skills and capabilities to respond proactively and creatively to contemporary issues in event management and hospitality operations within an increasingly global marketplace.

We combine the study of events marketing with hospitality management theory, providing a broad-based business education. Subjects covered include corporate planning and event marketing, live event management, strategic management and venue operations management.

We will explore a wide variety of contemporary issues and challenges faced by managers in the hospitality sector, both corporate and non-corporate. We will often refer to news stories and latest research, or share experiences from both national and international contexts. 

You will learn how to apply business principles, including marketing theory and strategic management to the solution of hospitality and event management problems. We will utilise a variety of teaching and learning methods, such as problem-based exercises, discussions and presentations.

The hospitality and events industries are booming and graduate prospects are excellent – there are 9.5 million workers employed in the hospitality industry within the EU alone.

From day one, you’ll be exposed to the events industry and encouraged to enhance and build your CV with practical work experience through placements. We provide volunteering opportunities at a number of local events organisations – Fashion Live Events, Live Buzz Events, Ricoh Arena, Pandora Events, NEC, Barclaycard Arena, Local wedding venues, Coventry Blaze, Warwick Racecourse, Conference Care, as well as various charities, including Bethany’s Wish. 

You will have the support of dedicated Personal Employment Tutors, who are industry trained. The employment unit also supports you with workshops and guidance on the various aspects of the employment process such as preparing your CV, interview practice and mock assessment centres
