About BA Sociology in Aberystwyth University

The BA Sociology degree at Aberystwyth University will train you to develop a critical awareness of and engagement with the social world. The Department has also established Erasmus Exchange Programmes with the University of Bergen, the University of Oulu, Finland, and the University Centre in Svalbard, giving students the unique experience of studying in one of the world’s most extreme environments. We also have strong links with a number of universities in North America, where students can complete their second year of study. In recent years, our Exchange coordinator has overseen placements at Purdue University (Indiana), the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia, the University of Montana and the University of Ottawa in Canada.

Academic qualification equivalents:

• We generally accept minimum 75% in year XII Std. of the Centeral Board of Secondary Education and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, in addition to the state boards of education in India.

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS          :         6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
• TOEFL         :         88 with minimum component scores: Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17. 
• PTE             :          55 with minimum scores of 51 in each component
