Criminology And Sociology Bsc (hons) Including Foundation Year in Kingston University, UK
Criminology And Sociology Bsc (hons) Including Foundation Year in Kingston University
Our Criminology and Sociology BSc (Hons) is a combination course that enables you to gain in-depth knowledge and critical thinking around both areas of study:
- Sociology is the study of people in society. It is concerned with the dynamics of interpersonal relationships and how people's beliefs, attitudes and behaviours are shaped by the world around them.
- Criminology is about the study of crime, crime control and how social 'groups' can become corrupt. It spans 'street-level' crime to global terrorism and cybercrime.
The sociological part of the course encompasses a broad understanding of the social world, from face to face interactions and behaviour in everyday life, to the organisation and operation of institutions and social groups, via the dynamics of social change at local and global levels.
The criminological content provides an excellent knowledge-base for you to engage with crime and antisocial behaviour, victimisation and responses to crime.
As part of the course you'll see how the content applies to real life situations, through field work like court observations, case study analysis and hearing practicing guest speakers. You will also have the opportunity to volunteer at organisations aligned to the programme, for example victim support helplines, advocacy groups, justice campaign organisations and welfare charities.
