About Msc Adult Nursing (pre-registration) in Manchester Metropolitan University

Overview

We’ve designed our MSc Adult Nursing course around the core values of the NHS constitution so that you understand what’s required in caring for and supporting vulnerable adults. Our aim is to make sure we prepare you for the challenges you may face and develop the expertise you’ll need to become a leader in nursing.

On this accelerated programme, you'll gain the experience and skills required to practice as an Adult Nurse in two years, rather than three. You’ll learn how to assess your patient’s needs and provide sensitive support, and how to collaborate with colleagues across a range of professions (including doctors, physiotherapists and dieticians).

You’ll spend 50% of your time on clinical placements in a variety of settings, with support from a practice supervisor/assessor throughout. This may include an operating theatre, accident and emergency, a community health centre, an intensive care unit, an outpatients department or a nursing home.

In addition to time spent in practice on placement, you’ll have a mix of simulated and technology-enhanced learning, university attendance in shared groups, field-specific groups, or interdisciplinary learning. When you're on campus you'll be based in our award-winning Brooks building, equipped with state-of-the-art, specialist health facilities and simulation technology.

Working in small groups in our Clinical Simulation Suite, you’ll learn many skills to support the development of your practice. It’s here that you’ll work on simulations of a patient’s journey from admission to discharge.

To fund your postgraduate pre-registration nursing degree, you'll be able to access standard student loans in line with undergraduate funding for pre-registration courses. Find out more about funding your MSc Adult Nursing (Pre-registration).
