About Education (english) Pgce in Queen's University Belfast

The PGCE in English is broadly aligned with the Northern Ireland Curriculum, training graduates to teach English across the 11-18+ year age range. The programme aims to develop your competence and confidence in the teaching of English and in the general professional role of the teacher.

Our PGCE will appeal to you if you wish to move into teaching students in secondary schools and if you are a graduate in first language English or English Literature or about to graduate in one of these subjects.

Extra places are reserved to prepare those who are interested in teaching their subject through the medium of Irish in Irish-medium schools. An additional certificate in Irish Medium Education (IME) is awarded in conjunction with St Mary's University College.

• A university degree in a related subject.

English language requirements (one of the below):

•  IELTS: 7.0 with minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
• TOEFL iBT : 95 with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20
  Writing - 17
• PTE: 67 overall  with minimum of 51 in each component
