About Electrical And Electronic Engineering in Queen Mary University of London

Electrical engineering is concerned with power generation and transmission and electrical machines. Electronic engineering deals with systems such as computers, communication networks and sensors. Our programme will give you an in-depth technical knowledge of both, alongside hands-on experience to prepare you for real-world applications.

Specialisations include power engineering, microprocessor design and communications systems electronics. While the focus is on electronic hardware design, you will also learn the foundations of programming, completing your set of technical skills.

We’ll show you how to be creative, innovative and flexible in devising engineering solutions, bringing together numerical, computational, analytical and technical tools in a systematic way.

In the final year, direct your studies towards your aims and interests as you choose from a wide range of modules. You’ll also tackle a topic of your choice in depth with a supervised individual project.

​​​Academic qualification equivalents

  • Students who have successfully completed Standard XII examinations will be considered for entry onto our undergraduate degrees across the full disciplinary spectrum.

    As a minimum requirement, students who have taken Central Board/State Board examinations and achieved in the range of 75% to 85% will be considered for first year entry.

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS : 6.0 overall including 5.5 in Writing, in Reading, Listening and Speaking. 
  • TOEFL IBT:  79 overall including 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading, and 20 in Speaking.
  • PTE: 57 overall including 51 in Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking.
