  • Study insightful PR modules which equip you for working in the sector.
  • Develop the digital communication skills employers are looking for.
  • Learn to safeguard reputations and understand why organisations value them.

The dynamic, fast-paced marketing and PR industries have never been so closely connected – graduates of these subjects are expected to have skills and attributes for both fields. On this course, you'll cover everything from crisis management to creative skills, preparing yourself to innovate and communicate in a range of exciting settings.

Work placements

You’ll have the opportunity to arrange a paid year-long work placement in between your second and third years. A placement gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career, and many students find jobs with their placement companies after graduating. Marketing graduates have gone on to work for businesses including McCann Erikson, Uber Agency and WDMP.

Live projects

You’ll experience work-based projects in each year of your course, increasing your knowledge, skills and attributes to prepare you for graduate-level employment. These will be a mixture of live client briefs and short placements. You can also pursue your own business initiative, subject to approval.

Field trips

You’ll be able to join the student Marketing Society, which organises field trips throughout the year. There are also PR field trips that have included visits to industry events run by professional associations, and a trip to Malaysia to learn about the country's PR industry.

Networking opportunities

Your lecturers are actively involved in the marketing and PR industries and related academic research. This gives them access to useful contacts and a contemporary understanding of industry practice, which feeds into the teaching of the course. The course also features guest speakers from the national and international PR and marketing industries.

You’ll have the opportunity to attend conferences and events designed to offer you additional professional insight, as well as the chance to network with experts in the industry (there may be an additional charge for these).
