The Product Design Research Group has a successful track record of research funding and also includes collaborations with NASA, Deutsche Telekom, Mozilla, Microsoft, Met Office and the V&A Museum. Over the course of the last few years, the group has investigated a variety of research topics, including, for example:

  • Investigating the impact of digital technologies and big data analytics on creative processes.
  • Using community hackathons to support grassroots development of civic technologies.
  • Invigorating small business using Internet of Things (IoT) and digital technology.
  • Investigate how co-design and wearable technologies can improve the mobility and wellbeing of residents in care homes.
  • Exploring notions of openness and trust in IoT through an extensive network of collaborations, events and design interventions.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • Bachelor’s degree with 55% or above considered from University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, IITs and IIMs (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)

    Bachelor’s degree with 60% or above required from other institutions (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)

    A Bachelor’s degree with 50% or above may be considered comparable to a UK 2.2 degree.

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS: The requirement for most undergraduate and postgraduate degrees is IELTS 6.5 overall with a 6.0 in writing and 6.0/5.5 minimum in the other three components.
  • TOEFL (iBT): 88 overall, including at least 21 in Listening, 20 in Reading, 20 in Speaking, 23 in Writing.
  • PTE: 62 overall, including at least 56 in all four skills
