International and global approaches to public health have become significant with more emphasis being placed on health and wellbeing inequalities between different countries due to disparate wealth and development. 

Global health has important implications for global security. For example threatening social and economic development and generating significant challenges around migration, the global transmission of disease, health and illness and the inter-connectivity.

Health studies now proceed beyond simple local and national dimensions and people across the world and require global solutions.

Our programme will provide students with a rich and varied learning environment in which to explore public health ideas relevant to a global audience. Student participation is key to this programme's delivery and we encourage applications from those with relevant work experience that they can bring to the classroom.

Students who are in work and want to further their knowledge in their existing field, or those who want to gain a qualification that will lead them into a new area of work, can tailor their learning to suit their own career aspirations, goals and needs. We offer our students the opportunity to study this programme as a generic MSc in Global Public Health or take one of the endorsed routes.

Those who study the generic route will achieve an MSc in Global Public Health. Students who choose to specialise their studies through an endorsed route can be awarded one of the following; 

  • MSc Global Public Health (Child and Maternal Health), 
  • MSc Global Public Health (Communicable & Non-communicable Diseases), 
  • MSc Global Public Health (Ethics and Human Rights), 
  • MSc Global Public Health (Migration, Culture and Health).

Graduates of this programme can explore careers in International and national non-governmental organisations and charities that work around the globe. Studying the Global Public Health MSc can lead to roles such as, Community Health Promoter, Public Health Technical Advisor, International Programme Consultant or Global Programme Manager.

Academic Entry Requirements

Postgraduate Degrees (Master's)

For entry to our Master's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Four year bachelor degree with a minimum of 55% in Final Year for UK 2:2 OR 65% for UK 2:1(50% for UK 2:2 OR 60% for UK 2.1 from top University:Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania, JNTU)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
