Our international business with language degree is designed to meet the demands of a global industry by incorporating the study of either French, Italian, Mandarin or Spanish. Including a language in your studies can widen your career opportunities.

The course covers topics such as international business management and strategy, internationalisation, trade and markets, and emerging economies. You'll also get a good grasp of international business issues, organisations and their environments. The course includes the opportunity to undertake an optional placement year in an international organisation or to participate in the Erasmus+ student exchange programme.

International business careers include general management with international firms, and functional management.

Careers and placements

Will I have a work placement?

Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.

Previous students have secured a placement year at IBM, Warner Music, Nissan, Sandals Resorts International and Bloomberg.

How long is my placement?

Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.

What are the financial arrangements?

UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000-£18,000 pro rata. Some charity / voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Business skills and fluency in your chosen language will enable you to explore international careers in both the public and private sectors.

Our previous graduates have found employment in general management, functional management and management consultancy, all with international firms.

You also have the option to continue with postgraduate education or launch your own business as an entrepreneur.

Are internships available?

Internships are optional, and last for a minimum of six weeks. Gain a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before graduating.

Academic Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor's)

For entry to our four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 50%
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

For standard entry to our Bachelor's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Standard XII with a minimum of 60%(70% for Law, Architecture)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements

Some Bachelor's degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.

For advanced entry to Year 2 you will need to complete:

  • Year 1 of a relevant degree with a minimum of 55%

You must show your English language skills to complete your course. Requirements vary by course and level, but the good news is, you don't have to wait to reach the required level before you apply.

For MPhil/PhD postgraduate research degrees, you need:
