Our post graduate diploma is a one-year qualification for nurses who wish to pursue a career as a specialist practitioner in district nursing. On our programme you will integrate the study of health, policy, research and evidence-based practice in order to focus your career and specialise as a district nurse.

Our expert tutors will help you develop the required knowledge and skills to deliver care to patients of district nursing services. You will also learn essential leadership skills and how to head up your own team of staff responsible for this provision.

50:50 Practice and theory

We have a strong 50:50 theory and practice element to our diploma, meaning half of your learning time will be spent in practical work placements, where you will be assessed by qualified practitioners. We are proud to report that all our work placements have resulted in employment, with our students being recruited through the trusts they are seconded/ sponsored by.

Nursing skills theory is taught and assessed in our four state-of-the-art laboratories on campus. Learning clinical skills in laboratories ensures that our students develop competence in a safe, protected environment. Your studies with us will enable you to explore and debate policy, theory and research related to district nursing, all within the public health context.

We offer strong support to all our students. We aim to help you deliver and lead district nursing services safely and effectively at individual, group and community levels.

Academic Entry Requirements

Postgraduate Degrees (Master's)

For entry to our Master's programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  • Four year bachelor degree with a minimum of 55% in Final Year for UK 2:2 OR 65% for UK 2:1(50% for UK 2:2 OR 60% for UK 2.1 from top University:Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Osmania, JNTU)
  • 70% in English in Standard XII or English language requirements
