About Marketing With Professional Experience Year in University of Salford

Designed around the needs of employers, best practice and current trends, the BSc Marketing degree at Salford Business School provides you with a strong business education in preparation for an exciting career in a fast-paced environment.  You will study at our Salford campus close to Manchester city centre.

Industry relevance is central to all of the programmes offered at Salford Business School. As a marketing student, you’ll benefit from our industry links through the inclusion of guest speakers from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, providing you with an insight into how different organisations market themselves in different environments.

With the opportunity to take part in a work placement following your second year, you’ll have the chance to take what you’ve learned through your studies, and put it into practice in a real business situation. If you choose to undertake a professional experience year, not only will your career prospects benefit, but you will not pay tuition fees for that year and will earn a wage for the work you do.

Wondering about the value of the work placement year?  Haley Britton, who got a placement with Agilent Technologies says: "I feel like it was definitely a good idea for me to go and do a placement because I've got more real world experience. Whereas if I had gone on, just to do my final year, I don't think I would have had as much of an advantage, going out into the real world after graduating."

You will:

  • study the academic principles that underpin marketing and apply them in practice
  • learn core business skills and how marketing integrates with them
  • develop the skills that employers look for such as project planning, team working and self-presentation
