We specialise in enabling you to become a highly original and individual creative designer, capable of working at the highest levels of the international fashion industry. The Fashion Design BA Honours course at Westminster is currently the only undergraduate course that shows a selection of its students on the official London Fashion Week schedule.
Throughout the course, the emphasis is on the development of your personal design philosophy. The course offers a comprehensive design education for dedicated and ambitious individuals looking for a specialist career in the international fashion industry. You will also gain the transferable and cognitive skills necessary for lifelong personal and professional development. Internships on both the three-year and sandwich course are undertaken at leading international fashion companies, and have recently included Adidas, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Balmain, Calvin Klein, Celine, Christian Dior, Christopher Kane, Craig Green, Givenchy, Haider Ackermann, Jeremy Scott, Kenzo, Lanvin, Loewe Vuitton, Martin Margiela, Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne and Tom Ford.
Course graduates include London Fashion Week designers Claire Barrow, Roberta Einer, Liam Hodges and Ashley Williams; as well as Christopher Bailey; Katie Hillier, Creative Director of Marc by Marc Jacobs; Jutta Kraus, Creative Director of Bernhard Willhelm; and Stuart Vevers, Creative Director of Coach.
Fashion Design graduates from the last three years are now working at Versus, Rick Owens, Celine, Loewe, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Carven, Tom Ford, Erdem, Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo, Kenzo, H&M, Preen, MaxMara, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry, J.W. Anderson, Norse Projects, Acne, Jacquemus, Paul Smith and Adidas.
Academic qualification equivalents
- HSC XII: CBSE, ICSE, Kolkata, or Tamil Nadu boards with an overall average of 70% or above*
- HSC XII: West Bengal board with an overall average of 58% or above*
- HSC XII: Maharashtra or Gujarat boards with an overall average of 75% or above*
- HSC XII: All other state boards with an overall average of 80%+ or above*
- a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution or an Indian institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component
- TOEFL iBT : 78 overall with a minimum of 17 in Listening, and Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking
- PTE:54 average with 51 in each component
