About Sociology Major (ba/bs) in Dallas Baptist University
The Sociology major equips undergraduate students for entry-level positions in the sociology field, including child and family services, social work, Christian ministry, and jobs requiring a background in sociology and graduate work. Sociology courses focus on contemporary social life dynamics, including how individuals, families, and society-at-large are impacted in a culturally diverse and global environment while enhancing a student's awareness of other cultural and socioeconomic perspectives. DBU students apply written and verbal communication skills and research methods in problem-solving within a social science context, which enables students to understand and predict human behavior and social phenomena within a Christian worldview while demonstrating servant leadership through the involvement in internships and service-learning projects. Upon graduation, DBU graduates demonstrate a basic understanding and global perspective of human interaction, social group relationships, and societal systems based on sociological research and literature.
