About Animal Sciences: Race Track Industry Emphasis in University of Arizona

If you're driven by a passion for horses and and the unique connection between animal and human and this program sets you up for success in the horse-racing industry. The Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences with a Race Track Industry emphasis is the only program of its kind centered on the racing industry. Students pick from two paths of study: one that prepares them for race track management, regulation or pari-mutuel racing organizations; and the other that focuses on careers in racing and breeding. Students not only learn science and business concepts, but they are immersed in the diverse day-to-day operations of the racing industry through projects in the classroom and hands-on opportunities in the field. Students complete internships throughout the country and abroad at race tracks and farms, and with trainers and racing-related organizations.

  • Understand the economic concepts and utilize the analytic tools used in agribusiness.
