The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science encompasses algorithms, programming languages, compilers, databases, artificial intelligence and more. Students cultivate the skills to design, develop and test computer programs and systems and learn to apply mathematical methodologies to solve computational tasks. Students pursuing the B.S. in Computer Science take advanced math courses and lab coursework. Eligible applicants to this degree are first admitted as pre-majors. Once students satisfy criteria, they're admitted to the Computer Science major. - Apply Mathematical Methodologies to Solve Computational Tasks; a. Model a variety of real-world problems using appropriate data structures. b. Select algorithms appropriate to particular purposes and apply them. c. Understand the central concepts and skills required to design, implement, and analyze algorithms for solving problems.
- Understand the Structure and Functioning of Software Systems; a. Have in-depth knowledge of, and ability to build, a large software system. b. Leverage existing software systems in the development of new systems.
