Do have a passion for the outdoors? Are you seeking a career that enables you to work outside? With a major in Forest and Natural Resource Management (FNRM), you will gain the knowledge and skills required to work as a natural resource manager from Minnesota to Alaska.

Tracks in this major include:

  • Forest Ecosystem Management and Conservation
  • Park and Protected Area Management
  • Urban and Community Forestry 
  • Minors are also available in each track

You will benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that covers the managerial, behavioral, and ecological sciences of our natural resources. Examples of coursework include dendrology, managing recreational lands, hydrology, environmental conflict management, and forest ecology. The hands-on curriculum in FNRM will bring you beyond the classroom during field sessions where students learn and practice the technical skills used by professionals.

The FNRM major is the only 4-year bachelor’s degree program in Minnesota that is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. This accredited degree program prepares students to work for local, state, and federal agencies such as the National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
