About University of South Wales

University of South Wales, with over 30,000 students from 120 different countries, is one of the biggest university in Wales, which offers about 200 courses.

It was formed in 2013 following the merger of the University of Glamorgan and University of Wales. The university has four primary departments across its campuses in South Wales.

USW students can choose from both 345 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The strong relationships between the university and global companies such as IBM, Rolls-Royce, HSBC and BBC support students a lot and help them interact with future employers.

USW is well known for its courses in sports and film and has created several award-winning sports teams and filmmakers. USW's athletic facilities are excellent and some of the finest in the UK.

In reality, 95 percent of students who are a graduate of the institute get to work or work within six months of their graduation from University .

Campus 

University campuses are all easily accessible by road, rail and air, in Cardiff, Newport, Pontypridd and Dubai.

Treforest, & Glyntaff, Pontypridd Campus

The Pontypridd campus is the largest campus that features historic buildings and modern infrastructure.

The campus is located in different parts : 

Treforest – Which hosts a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses  also engineering and related subjects.

Glyntaff – Where nursing, science and sport courses are based.

Cardiff Campus

The university's media centre is Cardiff Campus. It rests nearby BBC Studios and Pinewood Studios. In addition to a limited number of courses from the Faculty of Business and Society, the Faculty of Creative Industries is located at the Cardiff campus.

Newport City Campus

The largest site of the university is the £40 million site of Newport City Center on the western side of the Usk River.

The campus of Newport is within easy reach and close to the residence hall. Programs can also be carried out on this campus in the fields of counseling, service, social work and community work.

Location Specialities 

• Cardiff is a modern city, with everything from shopping to live sports, culture, arts and history.

• The largest of the three campuses is Pontypridd, consisting of two sites: Treforest and Glyntaff, surrounded by lush open spaces;

• Newport is one of the most iconic university buildings in the city centre.

Accomodation

Pontypridd has residence halls and facilities on its campus of Treforest. Students studying on Cardiff campus at the university have access to private residential halls, shared with other universities in the area. Newport City building has private halls of residence nearby.

In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the university reached the top five per cent of universities in the world in 2017.

  • PTE – 50 overall and a minimum of 42 in all components.
