The City College of New York, the city's flagship higher education school, has been known for academic brilliance since 1847. It is a public college that is part of the City University of New York System that provides higher education.

The college is located on 35 acres along Convent Avenue (130th to 141st Streets) in Manhattan's Harlem neighbourhood. In 1847, the renowned architect Goerge B.Post designed the college's building.
