About University of Central Arkansas

The Arkansas State Normal School was founded in 1907, but the University of Central Arkansas (Central Arkansas or UCA) was not established until January 1975. This is one of the oldest universities in the U.S. state of Arkansas, located in Conway, Arkansas. The university is distinguished for its business, education, nursing, performing arts, physical therapy, and psychology programmes.

The University of Central Arkansas houses five residential colleges and one community college, including EDGE Residential College, EPIC Residential College, HPaW Residential College, STEM Residential College, The Stars Residential College, and Minton Commuter College. In addition to the aforementioned, the university consists of six colleges. They constitute

  • The College of Fine Arts and Communication offers five degree programmes, including music, public relations, and communication, among others.
  • The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics offers eight physical and natural science concentrations and six pre-professional programmes.
  • The College of Business offers associate, graduate, bachelor's, and MBA degrees in fields such as accounting, economics, finance, and innovation, among others.
  • The College of Health and Behavioural Science offers bachelor's and master's degrees in health, exercise and sport science, nutrition, psychology, and counselling, among others.
  • The College of Liberal Arts offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in anthropology, Chinese, criminology, sociology, political philosophy, French, international studies, and other disciplines.

The University is one of the largest institutions of higher education in the state, with 10,870 students enrolled at present (Fall 2019). On its 356 acres of land, the university provides over 150 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programmes in 120 buildings.

The institution is committed to academic vitality, honesty, and diversity. The university is regarded as one of the largest institutions that provide students with a vast array of programmes and courses. The faculty of the university employs interactive teaching techniques and provides students with a nurturing environment in which to develop.

In addition to academics, the university is renowned for its emphasis on extracurricular participation. The university offers 17 sports, such as basketball, golf, football, golf, soccer, etc., with approximately 400 student athletes. Purple and grey are the official colours of the UCA athletic teams for all events.
